Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors challenge. My hope is that over the next six months you’ll see either a nice & tidy 8-10 sentence flash fiction story or an excerpt from a piece I’m working on (like the one below). Check out other writers at the link above and the Weekend Writing Warriors twitter #8sunday. After this snippet you can find earlier links to this story. This piece is entitled “Castille’s Stone.”

***************

The grounds, mostly decorated with bush sculptures of animals, was tiny compared to most of the houses surrounding her estate.

After the “Great Migration” 10 years ago, most of the wealthier districts made space for all the so-called Fae princes and princesses.

Elise Morningstar was no fae princess. Fae drama queen; but no princess.

The Ice Cream men hopped out of the black Bentley; gesturing for us to get out.

Porsche had been flirting with the tallest one in pink for the 20 minutes it took us to get to the manse. He’d nearly wrecked the luxury car three times.

I thought about calling my mother; make amends and ask for help but I decided I’d rather tempt fate. What could go wrong?

  1. “Fae drama queen” – That’s awesome, and entirely true when it comes to the Fae! 😉 Great snippet as a whole, and that last line made me laugh. Gotta love writing those lines, right? 😉
