Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors challenge. My hope is that over the next six months you’ll see either a nice & tidy 8-10 sentence flash fiction story or an excerpt from a piece I’m working on (like the one below). Check out other writers at the link above and the Weekend Writing Warriors twitter #8sunday. After this snippet you can find earlier links to this story. And as a reminder, this piece is entitled “Castille’s Stone.”

So what I had a habit. I kicked it. I’m clean. My mother definitely saw to that. She made Porsche my sober coach. Porsche as a sober coach at first seemed like a sick joke. Porsche sniffs bella regularly; uses Rhodiola to party all night and keeps a human dealer on speed dial whenever she wants to blitz out on weed.
“So what did that little girl want?”
“I need a drink,” I said redirecting while pulling my locs into a ponytail.
“Ohhh, let’s go to Frisco’s!”

I have to agree – Porsche doesn’t sound like a good choice for a sober coach at all, but yet the way the snippet is written implies maybe she is somehow…..enjoyed he snippet, much to think about!
Agree with Veronica- Porsche sounds like trouble, and not at all like someone who should be responsible for someone else’s sobriety. Though I have a sneaking suspicion she has her ways . . .
Intriguing snippet. You’ve got me wondering how a wild gal — name Porche, of all things — could possibly help someone kick a habit, rather than pick up a new one.
A human dealer, huh? Are there non-human dealers?
Porsche sounds … fun… okay, I’d probably hide from her.
Porsche… I love that. Awesome snippet that promises trouble! 😉
I am very curious about how the dynamic works to keep your POV sober
