Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors challenge. My hope is that over the next six months you’ll see either a nice & tidy 8-10 sentence flash fiction story or an excerpt from a piece I’m working on (like the one below). Check out other writers at the link above and the Weekend Writing Warriors twitter #8sunday. I posted some of this a bit ago and a bit more last week. It’s got a title, “Castille’s Stone.”

Those games get fierce. Since they can’t lie any other time they bring out the worst in the players. Which means this young Fae was either playing with an amateur or she’s a very good liar and the Fae on the other end of this win is dead.
“Good game?”
“The best,” she smiles, the glint of her tiny sharp canines before she shoved a piece of gum between her lips unnerves me.
The ding of the bell at the front door to my shop makes me jump and her giggle. I hear the click clack of Porsche’s Louboutin heels and the scent of her perfume and I know this meeting is over with.
“Elise is it?”
“Yeah.”
“Let me have a day to think about it.”
Sounds like a verrry interesting game. Great snippet!
Wondering what this is all about! Games where people lie, but they don’t lie any other time? Interesting!
Definitely an interesting snippet. And I’m thinking about someone learns to be an excellent liar if they cannot lie at any other time, and whether “cannot” really means “are forbidden to.” I mean, how else would they learn, right?
Thanks so much for sharing!
Oh my! Love the characters and I am intrigued by this game they are going to play. Great snippet. Look forward to reading more. 🙂
Great use of the senses to draw in the reader. Their game sounds intriguing. A little “Truth or Dare-ish” 😉
Intriguing and even though it’s a short snippet, clearly you gave us all much to ponder, which shows how well done it was!
Oh man, Fae games legitimately give me chills. Really enjoyed the snippet! Thanks for sharing!
